There seem to be a lot of really good books now that are somehow tied to the Stick. Books about and/or written by Stick players. I thought this might even be good for a separate forum or subforum, so each book could have it's own thread.

First of all, I recently read Jim Reilly's excellent book "Stickman - The Story of Emmett Chapman and the Story He Created." I liked that so much, I ordered his book "Steinberger - A Story of Creativity and Design," as well as his novel "The Bass Player." He has an additional book called "Chasing Tone: How Rob Turner & EMG Revolutionized the Guitar's Sound." When I wrote him to praise his book about Emmett Chapman, he teased that there is another book related to these coming out in the fall. http://www.jimreilly.ca I bought "Stickman" from SE, but most if not all of his books are on Amazon. (Note: You may have to search each by its title. I've found over time that Amazon's search engines seem to point to items that will make it the most money rather than what the user is necessarily looking for.)

I'm almost done with "Stick With It - Adventures of a Chapman Stick Player" by Mike Kollwitz. I met Mike at a couple of Stick seminars at the Clairmont Colleges in CA in the early 90s, and thought he was amazing on Stick. I'm actually in a picture taken from one of these on page 73 - that skinny (back then, but not anymore) guy on the left in the 2nd row with the Peter Gabriel melting-face t-shirt. And lastly, for those who remember the Stickwire days, I have to include the Sci-Fi novel "Two Thirds of a God" by Vance Mitchell Gloster, who was the administrator for the Stickwire. On which point, my copy of Jim Reilly's excellent book about Emmett is called "StickMan: The Story of Emmett Chapman and the Instrument He Created" rather than "Emmett".
