Such musical richness! I'm overwhelmed as I was in the early days of prog jazz, but here we have a recognized Russian ethnologist who specializes in ancient Asian music and chants like a Native American.
His performance embodies two disparate souls in one: - The rock solid earth sign Taurus, keeping it simple, chanting on the downbeat. - The dexterous, double-handed Gemini adding layers of polyrhythms and polytonality, Dr. Max Groove.
These two archetypes work together, complimenting the other and creating complete sonic environments.
I learned from Boris that "autohtonica" means something like "aborigine". I'd like to jam with him some time but I wouldn't know where to come in. I'd probably just play two-handed lead lines and anticipate where his harmonic progressions are going. I like to call it (immodestly) "telepathic" playing.
Thanks Boris for an inspiring morning. Emmett

I've only just come across these clips & I'm truly amazed by them.
It's extremely rare that after listening to & playing music for over 33 years I hear something that is totally unlike anything I've heard before but Boris' music is extraordinary & I love it! I found it exciting to listen to & it just left me feeling so good.
As a bass player I'm really loving his incredibly funky slap-style bass lines & his use of electronics to create a vast swirling ocean of sound is just wonderful.
Hearing things like this really brings home to me just how uninspired, formulaic & clichéd my own music is - it must be really something to have such a strong & unique vision of what you want to accomplish musically & to realise it like Boris has.
Thank you Boris, you are a true original & a real inspiration, and thanks Emmett for creating the only instrument he could have done it with.
Just ordered a copy of "Autohtonica" from Amazon.

Listening now and smiling again. "Out is (indeed) what it's all about", still, the harmony and tonality is there. Your signature lead voice turns out to be very trumpet like, thanks to some audio processing no doubt. Combined with funk Stick bass and guzli crescendos, you create the most outrageous orchestra. Add to that your ethnic chant, back in time to ancient Asia, and I'm once again lost in the totality. Now laughing with liberation, Emmett.
