Re: What are you working on?
Part 2
I wanted to get some pieces up and running, so I transcribed Bach's Prelude No.1 in C Major (from the Well Tempered Klavier) into tablature. For this I used blank guitar tab which I turned into a sort of Grand Tab (six melody side, 6 bass side). I turned most of the left hand 3rds & 2nds into 10th & 9ths. I have yet to get it to a high level of performance, but it was very useful in helping me get used to chord shapes, etc.
Next I picked a much easier piece from standard guitar repertoire, the Northern Dance. This piece features a repeating root-five-octave bass with a simple melody. I was able to master it fairly quickly.
In the summer of 08 I was asked to demonstrate the Stick for the local guitar society. I learned two pieces to perform: Snowflight, which is a fairly easy classical guitar work by Andrew York, and Midnight by Joe Satriani, which is a guitar tapping piece I had performed in the past.
I went to the Fred Tap seminar, organized by Rob Martino (and I did not mind paying), and got some helpful tips and inspiration.
I am working now (writing & playing) on a suite of etudes for stick titled Five in Five, one of which is posted here .
I have also been asked to contribute a stick track on the Industrial Hippies ( a local prog/jam? band) upcoming CD.
I'll try to get some more tunes posted sometime soon.
BTW I practice about 30-45 mins/day on average. I try to concentrate on small parts and practice precisely. I teach guitar for a living, and have about 65 students.

Finding my own voice so I can make my own music and trying to use in a pop-rock band as bass, supporting the guitar section and use it as additional soundseffects.

Re: What are you working on?
Prince or Persia, the Sands of time. (PS2) .............. Oh did you mean on the Stick? I've been working on a latin style Stick original called "Cupcake." I'm trying to get it SMOOTH enough to be able to play it in one continous take "live to tape" rather then using extra tracks, edits and recording tricks to make it sound good. Then I plan to post it on this forum for some feedback. ........... It may take me several more weeks of practice and 10000 takes a before I'm willing to share it but eventually it WILL be posted! THEN I'll re-record it using multi-tracks, add keyboards, human PLAYED drums (rather than programed drum machine drums) and all the tricks to make it sound like a produced piece of music. But my 1st goal is to present it as an "honest" solo Stick song to the forum for feedback.

Re: What are you working on?
Hello all, Had my Sticks for about a year and a half, still a long way to go before anything approaching "music" comes out, but currently still working on "Bum Notes and Miss Fingerings" , Oh, that and a continual request from my Missus for the song, "Something I recognise". (As in, PLEASE PLAY SOMETHING I RECOGNISE!!!).

Re: What are you working on?
I am working on a nice sonata by Domenico Scarlatti; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSXBNTyMAbMWith my tuning, its best to play this uncrossed; so that's a new territory for me

Re: What are you working on?
Beautiful piece. What tuning do you use? I play 2 Scarlatti pieces on the Stick, if you'd like to hear them via Skype sometime.... Also a Scarlatti-style piece I did for school a few years ago. Mad Monk. harpsitar@gmail.com

Re: What are you working on?
I use mirrored 4ths tuning, just like Rob (Martino).. I'd like to hear them once I setup my computer audio etc.. equipment; why don't you do a youtube video; it would be so nice to hear it! Which sonatas are you playing?

Re: What are you working on?
4ths...thought so.
I've been playing K431 and K517 for years now, but I still haven't nailed 517....
As for YouTube, I really don't want to leave a public record of something that's still getting better. But I would not mind playing for those who are also doing polyphonic tapping.
Mad Monk.

Mad Monk. They are pretty tough sonatas! I'll drop you a line when I get my audio stuff sorted out; I'd love to hear

Re: What are you working on?
Scarlatti and mirrored 4ths!
When I first tuned my Stick like this I had it in mind to learn K 531 (the only thing I can barely remember to play on the piano) but never got around to it... it might actually work better on an Alto (or propping the Stick up higher), I found the notes tended to be relatively high up on each side. Guess it could be transposed down somewhat.
