Actually the one I play is K531, not 431. Oops.

To play it you need that extra high bass string. You can either get rid of your low E string, or put the E on the other side like I did.

The piece would definitely work on an SG-12, no transposition necessary with the "piano" tuning (and you can reach that high E in the treble clef; to play it, I had to get an extra fret on my grand).

Mad Monk.

I transpose this particular sonata I'm working on 5 half-steps down; sounds really good. I'm really excited about the whole sonata

Scarlatti is such an amazing composer....

If you haven't already read it, I highly recommend Ralph Kirkpatrick's book on him. Kirkpatrick found out that the sonatas, music lessons for the Queen of Spain, were almost all improvisations, written down after one hearing by some lowly court scribe. The mind boggles.

I had read a similar thing about Bach's two and three part variations: its rumored that he wrote them on pieces of paper in -like- 15 minutes so that his children could practice when he's not around :o

Hi Y'all.

I've been singing my scales as I practice them. Here's how it goes so far....

Start, say at C on the 7th string. Your vocal range may require that you sing the lower notes up the octave and then as you ascend up the scale then you can drop down the octave (vocally), just try it and see.

Obviously this is good for your ear training and later you can develope relative or even perfect pitch by remembering the pitches.

According to the great Jazz guitarist, Herb Ellis, learning to sing what you play is the best thing you can do to improve your playing.

Voice leading/chord progressions. I've got some basic ii-V-I and I-vi-ii-V patterns together, but now I need to get comfortable enough to play them with the melody.

Still working on getting through school without taking on a lot of debt so I can aford one of these beasts one day. I'm also practicing my counterpoint and composistion skills on keyboard. Been learning some of Bach's inventions, I never get around to finishing one though.

Some good songs mentioned on here, I'll have to check back and here them once you get them done. Because I know you guys will be uploading stuff somewhere, its your duty to do so.
