Years ago I took a course called “Music For The Media” and learned a bit about writing music for TV, movie trailers, video games etc. I have scored a handful of projects professionally but have not done anything in the area for a while. Recently, I jumped back in and entered a Spitfire Audio-HBO contest to score a scene from the most recent season of Westworld. Interestingly, the NS/Stick ended up being a lead instrument in the piece which is not what I expected at the outset. Using the NS/Stick as a lead instrument in this kind of piece opened me up to writing more pieces on the instrument using more interdependent parts rather than full two-hand independent tapping.
Thank you for the kind words! I am just one of many entries in a contest where the winner receives all the Spitfire Audio sample libraries. I doubt I will come close to winning, but it was fun to try. The show has an excellent composer who also wrote the music for Game of Thrones.
