I found this video of a young pre-stick Boris. The man could sing! From what I’ve read, his songs detail Russian folklore from centuries ago. I love songs about mythical adventures. “… and his naked ears were tortured by the sirens sweetly singing!” If you read the comments to the YouTube post there is an English translation of the song. It is a story about an ancient demigod, Svyatogor
Lyrics translatated in English _______________________________________________
SVYATOGOR
It wasn't at glorious of Kiev city It wasn't at the Great Novgorod But near to Sourozh town, where is the Russian sea Near to Tmutarakan princedom
From the east where sun is rise Not just once - is twice sunrise First time through hill like bag of a stone Second time above the mount, that taller than hill It's isn't a hill, isn't a mount - it's Demigod is standing His hands and feet as stone, hair His as snow, as ice Sunlight looks at Him - as the blood is burning It was so long time ago And lived Svyatogor many years ago
He was so strong And judged and punished to all the enemies Svyatogor's power was destructive for Him He wanted lift to the Mother Earth With the seas, with the forests, cities, and with the people One fine day found Svyatogor the stone bag The bag of a stone, around hill He took and lifted of Mother Earth But Himself stuck in damp ground and died
It wasn't at glorious of Kiev city It wasn't at the Great Novgorod But near to Sourozh town, where is the Russian sea Near to Tmutarakan princedom It isn't a hill or mountain It's Svyatogor Demigod is standing His hands and feets as stone, hair His as snow, as ice
