Interesting. Certainly an oldie and looks to be in good shape (aside from the case that's pretty much useless without the foam). I think Emmett would roll over in his grave at the price though. But then again I've seen worse as far as price gouging Sticks. And honestly, someone interested in a first run Ironwood like this is probably more into collecting than playing anyway.

We talked about this one on the Chapman Stick facebook group. Yeah...overpriced for sure. But I'd love to see it up close for the wood pickup housing and belt hook.
One person suggested that SE should one day offer a "classic" option: new Sticks with these original style aesthetics, but with modern playability (36", truss, etc)

Maybe a project for when the order backlog is substantially shorter?

I'll be honest, I have one of these babies, and I think I paid $2500.00 for it, I think it is s/n 250 but I won't know for sure until I see this comment posted, and check my signature ending !!
I love the craftsmanship of these old Sticks, best of all I love that all the strings are equally spaced from top to bottom, unlike the newer ones that all have that center spacing...
Again, I'm in the real minority here - but I don't think the price is out of line at all, I mean... try and find another one !!
*but at the same time, I realize that only a few of us really love these old Sticks.
edit: not even close, I have # 285 with Chapman Classic flatwounds, but it's identical to what is being sold here.
I think below s/n 250 are the Sticks that have the narrower necks and are tuned a little different, maybe a half step lower ??
I would LOVE to find one, but I doubt I could afford it, not now anyway.

baggetthouse, here's a couple of pictures of mine, the workmanship is quite beautiful.
*I think Emmett would be smiling knowing that his old instruments are still out there, and are still a worthy investment, not too mention an absolute joy to play

MANY thanks for those photos Big George! I just realized...this is the first photo I've ever seen of a wood belt hook. Love it!
For a moment I thought you had laid your Stick in a snow bank for the photos. Sorry...massive snow day here in Saskatchewan. Been shovelling all morning.
I am really tempted to make a wood pickup housing. Just for fun. Create some funky laminate design with multi-colored hardwoods. Hmmm...
I wonder how gong show it would be to transfer the Stickup innards to a hand-made wood housing?
