Post SOLD! Grand Stick #699 for sale (not mine!)
Hi,

there is a very interesting (one of the very first ever made) Grand Stick for sale in Italy!
https://www.subito.it/strumenti-musicali/chapman-grand-stick-12-corde-trento-562800680.htm

This Grand Stick is in the north of Italy (Trento) and there will be no shipping, only self collection.

It's not my Stick! The owner asked me to post it here on stickist.com. For more information please contact the owner directly via FB Messenger: https://www.facebook.com/raffaella.lunelli

Wow!

Perhaps not relevant here but that "Touchboard" logo is fabulous, never seen that one before.

Maybe, the Stick was previously called a TouchBoard?

I'm curious about that pickup. Some kind of custom job created by a previous owner, I assume.

These are probably the original pickups. At that time Emmett used them in 7-string Stick Basses. A month ago there was a 5+7 Grand for sale in Germany, where on the bass side there was a Stickup, and on the melody the same. If I remember correctly, they were made by Lace, I think.

Oh wow. I never knew that. I'd love to know more, history/timeline, etc. And yes, they certainly do look like the pickups on the 7-string bass Sticks

I found this. The one from Germany was a bit smaller than the ones from Italy, but it was definitely the same design idea and workmanship.

IIRC Touchboard is a term that Emmett liked, and preferred over fretboard in connection with the Stick? That's why I use the with my tuning diagrams 'Touchboard Maps'.

If you look at the metal plaque on the headstock of your Stick you may[1] see "TOUCHBOARD PRODUCTS" just under the Stickman.

[1] I don't have any Sticks older that 2009, so I can't be certain it's on older ones - but I think so?

I never noticed that before.
My 1978 Stick says "The Chapman Stick touchboard TM" on the headstock placard.
